What Is An FD30 Fire Door?
An FD30 fire door is a specially designed door that can provide resistance against fire for up to 30 minutes when closed. The code literally means: Fire Door 30 minutes.
Available in various styles and finishes, the key thing about an FD30 fire door is that it gives the occupants in the building 30 minutes of protection from flames and smoke, allowing time for safe evacuation or for fire and rescue services to attend.
How Thick Are FD30 Fire Doors?
A typical FD30 fire door is 44mm thick, providing enough of a barrier to resist fire for up to 30 minutes. Anything less than 44mm in thickness is unlikely to be an official fire door.
Using a thicker core material, fire doors are vital for helping your building to comply with fire safety regulations, protecting exit routes and compartmentalising fire.
