Whiteleaf Centre

What was the issue?

Our fire stopping services were called into action in February at the Whiteleaf Centre. After a new partition wall had been installed with a fire door, it created a void that left the building at risk.

What did we do?

In order to create a compartment and maintain the integrity of the space, the void above the wall was fire-stopped. New ducting and services had been installed alongside existing ones, which required sealing with the appropriate materials to eliminate gaps. Fire batts were used around the ducting with mastic and coating to finish the work.

What materials did we use?

Our team attended the site to install a fire barrier in the form of 50mm fire batts, intumescent mastic and ablative liquid from the Protecta brand:

  • Protecta FR Board
  • Protecta FR Acrylic Mastic
  • Protecta FR Coating

What were the results?

This work, using fire-resistant materials, means that fire and smoke cannot travel easily between compartments in this area of the Whiteleaf Centre building, helping to protect staff, patients and visitors, giving them time to evacuate and minimising damage.
